Meeting Minutes 6.9.10

Topics Discussed
Financials:
                Current Balance     $445.00
                Donations 2010     $105.00
Maintenance/ Weeding Schedule
Weeding has been planned for Saturday, June 19, 9:00-11:00 am. Banners have been posted on the Woodmar signs at Wadsworth and Peakview. BYO bottled water, gloves, weeding tools, trimmers, and trash bags.
We are taking bids from landscape companies to evaluate professional assistance in maintaining the
common areas. We will use this option if we do not get support from volunteers from our neighborhood. Our plants are now well established and only need watering during drought conditions. Weeding & clean-up will be our main concern.
Neighborhood Appearance
  • Foreclosure  A few homes in our neighborhood are in the process of being taken by the bank. These homes can take more than a year before they will be ready for sale.  They will sit abandoned through this process.
  • Property Values  Home sales are slow due not only to the economy but the overall appearance of Woodmar.  Problems are:  peeling paint, junk piles in front or on the side of homes,  inoperable vehicles improperly stored without tags.
Summary of our discussion : We have a complex neighborhood.  We know some us are on fixed incomes, some out of work, single parents with time constraints and a myriad of demands that can override home maintenance .  Individually we can ask our neighbors for help or offer help to others.  We can each take a look at our own home. Ask.  What do I need to change or improve to increase my property value and that of my neighborhood?

Neighborhood BBQ
Shall we participate in National Night Out by having a community BBQ in our neighborhood?  If yes, we need volunteers to set it up.

What is National Night Out?
It's America's Night Out Against Crime!
The "27th Annual National Night Out" (NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 3, 2010 .
